ALL POSITIONS ARE PAID. All successful applicants will be trained in basic journalism and journalistic ethics, camera operation, etc. by Caper Media.

 

Editor-in-Chief/Director of Production

While this position is open to any student, previous experience at the newspaper is strongly recommended. This position manages the overall operation of Caper Media and is intimately involved in every area of the operation. This position is solely responsible for the layout and graphic design of Caper Media’s products as well as the management of the budget, accounting, editors, reporters, and all other parts of the operation. News and Sports Editor

This position manages the news and sports departments at Caper Media in liaison with the editor-in-chief. This position is also responsible for two reporters (one news reporter and one sports reporter), as well as ensuring that there is proper coverage of relevant news and sports events, with an added emphasis on local news and sports.

 Applications are welcome from anyone who will be a CBU student during the 2014-15 fall and winter terms (excluding MBA students) and training will be provided to the applicant selected for the position.

 

Arts and Lifestyle Editor

 This position manages the arts and lifestyle departments at Caper Media in liaison with the editor-in-chief. This position is also responsible for one arts and lifestyle reporter and one features writer, as well as ensuring that there is proper coverage of relevant general arts and lifestyle content, with an added emphasis on local arts and lifestyle events.

News Reporter

This position is responsible for writing news articles for Caper Media under the direction of the News and Sports Editor. This person should have excellent grammar and communication skills, both written and spoken. While reporters work on assignment under their relevant editor, independent story-seeking ambition is an added bonus for an applicant to possess.

 

Sports Reporter

 This position is responsible for writing sports articles for Caper Media under the direction of the News and Sports Editor. This person should have excellent grammar and communication skills, both written and spoken. While reporters work on assignment under their relevant editor, independent story-seeking ambition is an added bonus for an applicant to possess.

 

Arts and Lifestyle Reporter

This position is responsible for writing arts and lifestyle articles for Caper Media under the direction of the News and Sports Editor. This person should have excellent grammar and communication skills, both written and spoken. While reporters work on assignment under their relevant editor, independent story-seeking ambition is an added bonus for an applicant to possess.

 

Features Writer

This position is responsible for writing features articles for Caper Media under the direction of the News and Sports Editor. This person should have excellent grammar and communication skills, both written and spoken. Features writing training will be provided to the successful applicant.

 

Advertising Salesperson

This position is responsible for selling ads for Caper Media. Applicants should be outgoing, business-orientated, and driven. This position is compensated via commission on sold ads, although additional compensation (pay) is provided if the person reached the minimum ad sales quota. Training will be provided to the successful applicant. Ad packages and sales material will also be supplied.
